The New York Yankees is one of the most popular and most respected teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). The club is is a  successful professional baseball team, holding a total of 26 World Series titles as of February 2009. If you are one of the thousands, perhaps even millions, of Yankees fans out there, you may want to watch the Yankees in the ongoing 2009 MLB Spring Training. The New York Yankees' home stadium for spring training is George M. Steinbrenner Field, located in Tampa, Florida. Here are some tips on how to make the most of watching a spring training game at George M. Steinbrenner Field:

Before the game

The experience of watching a baseball game does not necessarily have to begin with the first pitch. Some people like to prepare for watching baseball games by having some drinks and food. One of the American traditions is to have a tailgate party before the baseball game or any major professional sport, including basketball and football. If you decide to throw your own tailgate party, be sure to invite some family and friends for a great time in preparation for the game. Also, you may want to bring extra food and drinks  to share with some of the other people in the parking lots for the tailgate parties. For those who plan on joining other people's tailgate party, be sure to ask for permission before grabbing at their food and drinks. You may want to bring a little extra money in case you have to purchase your beer and barbecue.

After the game

Those who want to prolong the fun and excitement of watching a baseball games can enjoy the many restaurants, bars and clubs around George M. Steinbrenner Field. Restaurants chains like Applebee's and Champps Americana are popular around the state and both chains have restaurants right outside of Steinbrenner Field. Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, one of the many steakhouses around the stadium, is the perfect place for a good steak and some drinks after the game.

Steinbrenner Field certainly lives up to the high standards that you would expect from a top-notch ball club. The facility has numerous features and amenities to make sure that you will have a great time watching spring training games. Around the stadium itself are numerous parks and an area with waterfalls and ponds. There is also a small park in front of the stadium with player plaques of Yankees who have had their numbers retired. The stadium itself has a capacity of 10,000, which is quite large for spring training grounds.
