Back in the second century BC, the Chinese and other cultures played a kicking game similar to soccer, which made tracing the origins of the sport next to impossible. However, when the Laws of the Game were created for soccer in 1863, the first-ever national team and the Football Association were born. Although the soccer we know today started out as a local leisure game around England, it has now become an international sport watched by billions of people worldwide.

Three decades after the official soccer rules were laid down; the sport has already traveled throughout Australia, Europe and the Americas, while other countries followed suit before the start of the 20th century. By the 1930s, many nations from the Americas and Europe were joining the international soccer governing body 'Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA). Although not all countries joined FIFA, the members increased to 73 by 1950 and 208 FIFA members by the end of 2007.

The World Cup, the most prestigious soccer tournament organized by FIFA once in every 4 years, has been one of the most-anticipated games of all existing sports. However, other soccer competitions are held every year, including the USA Soccer, World Series, MLS Cup, SuperLiga, Euro Cup, Women's World Cup, Gold Cup, the Manchester United US Tour and the Champions International Soccer US Tour.

After Italy grabbed the World Cup in 2006, many people are waiting for the 2010 World Cup to see who would reign as best in the world of soccer. But if you're dying to watch an action-filled soccer game and can't wait for 2010, you have all the choices in the world as DiscountSportsTickets.com offers nothing but the best of soccer tickets for all tournaments.
